Kids bored in lockdown? or have you always wanted to jazz up your hair colour but never had the guts? Well, now you can with tissue paper! yes, you read that right… Using tissue paper is an easy way to change your colour for a week before you take the plunge, or keep the kids busy for an hour and have a little fun.
We tried pink and purple, the pink took well on my niece’s blonde hair, but my niece with slightly darker blonde didn’t have much of an effect.
How to dye your hair with tissue paper
Step 1 – Decide on the colour you want to dye your hair, tissue paper comes in a rainbow of colours, so either go all-in with one colour or do strands in a selection of tones.
Step 2 – Tissue paper can be messy and can stain your hands to wear gloves and protect your clothes with a towel
Step 3 – Soak the tissue paper in hot water for around 30 mins so that the dye leeches
Step 4 – Pop your hair in the bowl with the dye and let it sit for at least 30 mins.
Step 5 – Wash your hair in cold water, warm will wash the colour straight out.
Step 6 – If you want the colour to last longer, wash your hair in cold water, the colour should last around a week in healthy hair.
If it doesn’t take too well, experiment with the times, or take your hair out and wrap in some clingfilm or a shower cap for a little while.
